Using Cart discount rules, you can set

  • Price discount
  • Percentage discount
  • Free shipping
  • Free Product

Other than free shipping, the discounted price will be shown as a coupon name in the cart page.

You can provide a common Discount name when the cart rules are activated.
Additionally, you can show different messages in frontend and backend.

Here is how to set it: Woo Discount Rules -> Settings -> Cart settings.

Let's see it with an example :
I am creating a cart based rule to provide 10% discount when the subtotal reaches 300.

In the coupon name to be displayed in frontend, I wish to show the rule name.
So, in this field, I am simply specifying {rule_name} .

This is how it will be displayed in the cart page:

And in the coupon name to be displayed in backend, I am setting discount rules.
This name will be displayed in the backend order details page.
Here is a screenshot of the order page :

Note :

  • What if, the field "coupon name to be displayed in storefront" is left empty ?

The text given in backend field will be displayed.

  • What if, the field "coupon name to be displayed in backend" is also left empty ?

By default, "discount" will be displayed in both front end and backend

  • What happens when there are two cart rules enabled ?

Both the rule names will be displayed (separated by comma)

  • Is it possible to show the discount name in the email as well ?

No, it is not possible. This is a Woocommerce functionality and it might not be possible to show the discount name in email.

  • The option to show different discount name in frontend and backend is possible only in PRO version.
