Introduction :

Displaying a discounted price with a strike-through on default prices is a common pricing strategy used by retailers to show customers the difference between the regular price of a product and the discounted price that is currently being offered.

This user guide explains how to display the Discounted price with strikethrough on default prices in your WooCommerce store.

Make sure you have already installed and activated the Discount Rules plugin. Please note that some of the features explained are available only in the PRO version.

It is essential to show the discounted price and the discount information in a way that it is easy for the customers to understand the discounts that are based on the quantity of products.

To enable the Strikethrough, go to your WordPress dashboard -> WooCommerce -> Discount Rules -> Settings -> Product section. There you can find a field named “Show strikeout when”.

We have three options to display discounted price with the strikethrough on the default prices:

  • Show when a rule condition is matched

  • Show after a rule condition is matched

  • Show on quantity update (Dynamic)

Show when a rule condition is matched :

This feature displays a strikeout on the product price when the discount is matching in the cart quantity.

Here is an example :

Let’s say, you offer a discount when a customer buys 3 or more quantities.

The strike out price should be shown only when the customer already has “2 items” in the cart and when is about to purchase the third quantity.

As you can see in the example below, the customer has 2 items in the cart. When he visits the product page, it shows the discounted price, with the original price strike out.

Show after a rule condition is matched :

This feature displays a strikeout only when the quantity discount exactly matches in the cart.

Here is an example :

Let’s say, you offer a discount when a customer buys 3 or more quantities.

The Strikeout price would be shown only after the customer adds “3 items” in the cart.

As you can see in the example below, the customer has 3 items in the cart.

When he visits the product page, it shows the discounted price, with the original price strike out.

Show on quantity update (Dynamic) :

This feature displays a strikeout dynamically when the quantity is increased by the customer in the product page.

Here is an example :

Let's say you offer a discount like, Buy 2 to 5 quantities of products get 10% discount and Buy 6 to 10 quantities of products get 15% discount.

When the customer increases the quantity to 2 in the product page the discount would be applied and reflected on the price of a product. This would encourage the customers to buy more.
