Introduction:
Discount on specific products is a feature provided by the Discount Rules for WooCommerce plugin, offering a price reduction or a special offer that is applicable only to a particular item in your product inventory. Instead of applying a discount to the entire order or a group of items, it is limited to specific products.
For example, let's say you have an online store that sells various electronics, and you want to offer a discount specifically on a popular smartphone model. You could set up a discount where customers receive a certain percentage or a fixed amount off the regular price of that particular smartphone when they purchase it.
Examples scenarios of setting up discounts on specific products:
Provide 10% discount on Hoodie (Simple product)
Receive a $3 discount on T-shirts (Variable product)
Buy 5 bags and get 10% off, 6 or above gets 20% off
Make sure you have already installed and activated the Discount Rules plugin. Please note that some of the features explained in the examples are available only in the PRO version.

Now let’s explore each example in detail.
Simple Product Discount:
Example 1: Provide 10% discount on Hoodie
In this scenario, if customers choose the specific product “Hoodie” available in the store, they will be eligible for a 10% discount on that specific product.
To create this rule, follow these steps:
Creating a Discount Rule:
Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button
Select the discount types as “Product Adjustment”
Then configure the discount rule as seen in the below screenshot:
Details of configurations are:
Choose "Products" from the filter options and select the simple product “Hoodie”. You also have options like specific Categories, Attributes, Tags, Sku’s and so on…You can choose the option depending upon your requirement.
Set the discount type to a 10% percentage discount. You also have options to choose Fixed discount or Fixed price per item
Click on “SAVE” once we have successfully created the rule.
Now, customers who buy “Hoodie” will be eligible for a 10% discount on the product.

Variable Product Discount:
Example 2: Receive a $3 discount on T-shirts
In this scenario, if customers choose any specific variant of the product ‘T-shirt’ available in the store, they will be eligible for a $3 discount on that specific product. In order to do that, enter the main/parent product in the filter section so that the discount will be applied to all variants in a variable product.
To create this rule, follow these steps
Creating a Discount Rule:
Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button
Select the discount types as “Product Adjustment”
Here is the screenshot of the rule configuration that follows,
Details of configurations are:
Choose "Products" from the filter options and select the variable product (choose the parent/ main product) “T-shirt”. You also have options like specific Categories,Attributes, Tags, Sku’s and so on… You can choose the option depending upon your requirement.
Set the discount type to a $3 fixed discount. You also have options to choose Percentage discount or Fixed price per item
Click on “SAVE” once we have successfully created the rule.
Customers who buy “T-shirts” of any variant will be eligible for a $3 discount on the product “T-shirt” on each variants.

NOTE: You can also apply discounts to specific variants alone by selecting only the specific variant instead of the main product.
Example 3: Buy 5 Bags and get 10% off, 10 or above get 20% off
In this scenario, if customers choose the specific quantities of the product “Bag” available in the store, they will be eligible for a 10% and 20% discount on that specific product.
To create this rule, follow these steps:
Creating a Discount Rule:
Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button
Choose “Bulk Discount” as the Discount type
Here is the screenshot of the rule configuration that follows,
Details of configurations are:
Choose "Products" from the filter options and select the product “Bag”. You also have options like specific Categories,Attributes, Tags, Sku’s and so on… You can choose the option depending upon your requirement.
In the Discount Section, choose Count Quantities as “Filter set above”, because this bulk discount is for the product ‘Bag’ in the store.
Now enter “5” in the Minimum Quantity and “9” in the Maximum Quantity and choose the Discount Type as “Percentage Discount” (you can also have Fixed Discount and Fixed Price for item according to your scenario) and enter “10” as the Discount Value.
Now click on the “Add Range” button and enter the second range of values as “10” in the minimum quantity and “999” in the Maximum Quantity and choose the Discount Type as “Percentage discount” and enter “20” as the Discount Value.
Click on “SAVE” once we have successfully created the rule.
Customers who buy 5 Bags will get 10% off and if he buys 10 or above gets 20% off.

If you want to offer a discount for the entire variable product, then you can choose the parent/main variable product in the filter section.
If you want to provide a discount for a specific variant of the variable product, then you have to choose the specific variants in the filter section.
