Introduction:

The "Buy product A + B and get discount in product C" is a type of discount offered by the Discount Rules for WooCommerce plugin, which allows customers to receive a discount on a specific product (product C) when they purchase a combination of two other products (products A and B).

For example: Buy Fiction Book (Product A) + Non-Fiction Book (Product B) and get a 50% discount on Bookmark (Product C).

The aim of offering this particular discount is to incentivize customers to buy more than one product from a store by providing them with a reduced price for a third item. This strategy can prove effective in increasing sales and motivating customers to discover various products available in the store.

Example scenarios:

  • Buy Fiction Book (Product A) + Non-Fiction Book (Product B) and get a 50% discount on Bookmark (Product C)

  • Buy Keyboard A + Headset B and get $10 off on Gaming Mouse C.

  • Buy Moisturizer A + Cleanser B and get Sunscreen C for FREE

To create such rules, you must have the Discount Rules PRO plugin installed and activated. Purchase the PRO version by clicking on the button below.

Now, let’s take a look at the above examples one by one in detail.

Example 1 : Buy Fiction Book (Product A) + Non-Fiction Book (Product B) and get a 50% discount on Bookmark (Product C)

This example allows customers to receive 50% off on a specific product (Product C) by purchasing a combination of two other products (Product A and B).

Creating a Discount Rule:

  • Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button

  • Select the discount types as “Product Adjustment”

Then configure the discount rule as seen in the below screenshot:

Rule configuration:

  • Choose “Products” as filter in the Filter section and select “Bookmark” (Product C) by typing a few characters of the product name to find product C and select it.

  • Set the discount as a 50% percentage discount or choose other options like "Fixed Discount" or "Fixed price per item" based on your requirements.

  • Add additional condition as “Product Combination”

  • Select Product A and B here by typing a few characters of the product name and set each quantity of product should be greater than or equal to 1.

  • Save the rule once it is successfully created.

Now, let's see how the above scenario works.

If customers purchase both product A and B, they will receive 50% off product C.

The screenshot below shows how the discount is applied on the cart page:

Example 2 : Buy Keyboard A + Headset B and get $10 off on Gaming Mouse C.

Creating a Discount Rule:

  • Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button

  • Select the discount types as “Buy X Get Y”

Then configure the discount rule as seen in the below screenshot:

Rule configurations include:

Filter section:

  • Choose “Products” as filter from the filter options

Example 3: Buy Moisturizer A + Cleanser B and get Sunscreen C for FREE

This example offers customers a free product (Sunscreen C) when they purchase a combination of two other products (Moisturizer A and Cleanser B). The promotion can be set up in WooCommerce by creating a discount rule that applies the free product to the cart when the qualifying products are added.

Creating a Discount Rule:

  • Go to WordPress dashboard -> Woocommerce -> Discount Rules -> Click on “Add New Rule” button

  • Select the discount types as “Buy X Get Y”

Then configure the discount rule as seen in the below screenshot:

  • Save the rule once it is successfully created.

Now, let's see how the above scenario works.

Once this rule is implemented, customers who purchase both Products A and B will automatically get Product C as free (as we have set the free quantity as 1 and chosen the mode of apply as autoadd). The Free Product will get automatically added to the cart page, as shown in the screenshot below.

The screenshot below shows how the discount is applied on the cart page:
